I have recently completed a reproduction of Monet’s The Bodmer Oak fontainbleau painted in 1865. I love painting landscapes in the impressionistic style because the main focus is on light and color.

Lately I have been doing many portraits. commission
Commissioned by my friend, this poppy painting was a welcome challenge. Poppies are my favorite flower because their petals are pure vibrant colors and this very fact made them difficult to paint! The bright colors have very subtle variations in them to give them texture and depth. The background on the other had was a fun day of splattering green and black paint onto the canvas. A fun way to start a painting. Paintings

About a year ago my friends and I drove 3 hours North East of San Diego to the great lake Salton Sea. It is a beautiful and deserted area, the shoreline is made entirely of bleached fish bones. The horizon line stretches into the distance so far that the sky becomes omnipresent. I appreciate the quiet pastel colors of the desert and sought to capture its expansive feeling. I just finished showing this piece at the Gowanus Ballroom in Brooklyn and I sadly had to break it down and roll the canvas up to store it. If you know of a large wall that could use a desert landscape… let me know. |
