The Process of Painting “Starry Night” Van Gogh

I was commissioned to reproduce the oil painting “Starry Night”, one of Van Gogh’s famous paintings.  I was incredibly excited to study a Van Gogh because his paintings inspire me.      I love his thick expressive rhythmic brush strokes.

One of the many perks to living New York City as an artist is getting to see original paintings in person. I visited the original painting in the Museum of Modern Art.

In the MoMA I made a little sketch of the original “Starry Night”

And sign from somewhere.. or perhaps a coincidence, the day I started the painting, someone left this book in a give away bin next to the elevator in my apartment complex… perhaps it was my destiny. (I’ve been watching too much Lost lately)
