Moonlight and Milkyway

This is one of the funnest commissioned paintings I have made yet. Commissioned by my friend, when I asked him what he wanted a painting of he said “Dont even tell me what it is! Just make whatever you want”. And that I did!

I had been itching to make a painting of stars so I created a composition out of the milkyway, moon, and a dynamic tree. The first layer of the painting was just the color hues of the sky, then after letting it partially dry I splattered thousands of stars onto the background. After letting it completely dry I painted my interpretation of a tree bathed in moonlight. One of the neat effects of this painting is that when seen at night it looks even more like a real landscape. I look forward to making more paintings in this style soon.
